Bloodhound SSC The Adventure Begins, Wednesday 7th October 2009, 14:-15:30, Swansea University

After the success of last year’s inaugural annual WIMCS lecture given by Johnny Ball, we are delighted to invite year 12 students to the 2009 WIMCS event to be held on Wednesday 7th October (flyer attached). This year’s lecture is aimed at year 12s, although year 11 students interested in maths and engineering are also welcome, and is on the Bloodhound Supersonic Car – How and Why?  Dr Ben Evans will be the main speaker and will cover the background to the project, the role of Swansea University and the part played by computer modelling, simultaneous equations, aerodynamics, forces and moments.  The lecture will include short activities for the students and time for questions.

Careers information will be available in the foyer of the Faraday both before and after the lecture.  Student Recruitment is also offering campus tours on a first come first served basis to groups of up to 10 students before and after the lecture.

The event is free.  To book your place, please complete and return the booking form as soon as possible (places will be allocated on a first come first served basis).  Further details on the location and parking arrangements will be sent to you once your booking form has been received.

I hope that you and your students will join us on 7th October and I very much look forward to seeing you then.
